Description
Product Overview
The EB501-10 is the ER Bus slave interface module of Yokogawa CENTUM CS3000 DCS system, paired with EB401-10 master module. It is installed inside remote I/O node racks to realize communication between local I/O and FCS via ER coaxial bus. It receives control commands from EB401-10 master and uploads field I/O data back to the main Field Control Station, supporting deterministic real-time control data exchange for distributed remote I/O racks.

Key Features
- ER Bus Slave Node Communication: Works cooperatively with EB401-10 master module, responsible for remote rack I/O data exchange.
- Coaxial BNC Interface: Uses 50Ω coaxial cable for anti-interference transmission in noisy plant environments.
- Hot Swappable: Module replacement can be executed online without shutting down the whole remote I/O rack.
- Onboard Diagnostics & LED Indicators: LED status lamps display power, bus link, and communication fault information for quick troubleshooting.
- Electrical Isolation: Provides isolation between ER field bus and internal I/O backplane to reduce electromagnetic interference.
- Distributed I/O Extension: Enables placing I/O racks far away from main control cabinet, suitable for large plant layout.
Applications
- Petrochemical and refinery DCS remote I/O cabinets
- Power plant boiler & turbine auxiliary control
- Oil & gas process monitoring and control
- Pulp and paper, water treatment continuous process control
Installation & Maintenance Notes
- Mount EB501-10 in the slot of Yokogawa remote I/O rack.
- Use proper 50Ω coaxial cable and 75Ω terminal resistor for ER bus; incorrect termination will cause communication dropouts.
- Separate ER coaxial cable from high-voltage power cables to avoid EMI.
- Check BNC connector tightness and LED status during routine inspection.
- Total segment length and node quantity must follow Yokogawa ER bus specification limits.
FAQ
Q: What is the difference between EB401-10 and EB501-10? A: EB401-10 is ER bus master module installed in FCS rack; EB501-10 is slave module installed at remote I/O racks. They must work together as a pair for ER bus communication.
Q: Can EB501-10 run on CENTUM VP? A: No, it only supports CENTUM CS3000 platform, incompatible with CENTUM VP system.
