Description

Product Overview

Part Number: 5501-381

Manufacturer: Woodward

Product Series: MicroNet TMR / 5009 Turbine Control System

Type: TMR Main AC Power Supply Module

5501-381 is the primary AC input power supply module for Woodward MicroNet TMR and 5009 triple redundant turbine control system. It accepts 220VAC mains input and converts it to multiple regulated DC rails to power the entire TMR chassis, including CPU, kernel power, I/O and communication boards. It supports redundant parallel installation; two modules can run in load-sharing mode, maintaining continuous rack operation when one unit fails. Built-in hold-up capacitors provide short ride-through during brief power sags. Equipped with multi-fault diagnostic circuitry and front panel LED indicators for power status and fault alarms. Widely deployed in power plant gas/steam turbine and large compressor TMR control cabinets, used as critical spare for outage maintenance and system retrofit.

Engineer Notes

  1. 5501-381 is the main rack AC power supply, different from 5466-318 kernel power supply. 5466-318 converts 24VDC to 5V for CPU kernel, while 5501-381 converts 220VAC to supply the whole rack.
  2. Dual redundant configuration is commonly used for TMR turbine racks. Two 5501-381 modules operate in parallel load-sharing mode for high availability.
  3. Front panel LED indicators show power good and multiple fault alarms for quick troubleshooting during site outages.
  4. Built-in hold-up capacitor maintains output for short duration during transient AC power loss, protecting critical control logic.
  5. This module supports hot swap within the dedicated TMR power chassis under proper operating procedure, follow Woodward maintenance manual strictly for online replacement.
  6. Conformal coated PCB provides protection against dust, humidity and mild corrosive gas in power plant control cabinet.
  7. It is legacy end-of-life MicroNet TMR hardware, mainly used as spare inventory for existing 5009/MicroNet turbine control systems.
  8. Compatible with the 5453-279 12-slot TMR chassis we previously listed.

Pre-Shipment Test Protocol

  1. Visual inspection of housing, front panel, connectors, internal components and part marking
  2. Full load power output test under 220VAC input
  3. Holdup / power ride-through functional test
  4. Fault alarm simulation test and LED indicator verification
  5. Parallel load-sharing function test (if dual unit set)
  6. Insulation resistance and high-pot safety test
  7. Hardware revision and label verification
  8. Anti-static & shockproof packaging inspection

Buyer FAQ

Q: Is Woodward 5501-381 new original? A: We supply brand new original Woodward units, 12-month warranty, factory test certificate available on request.

Q: What is the difference between 5501-381 and 5466-318? A: 5501-381: Main AC power supply, 220VAC input, supplies the whole TMR rack. 5466-318: Kernel PSU, takes 24VDC input and outputs 5VDC for TMR CPU kernel board only.

Q: Can 5501-381 be hot swapped? A: It supports hot swap in the dedicated TMR power chassis under Woodward specified safety procedure, only when the redundant partner PSU remains healthy and online.

Q: What system chassis works with this PSU? A: Designed for MicroNet TMR 5009 control system, compatible with 5453-279 12-slot TMR chassis.
