Description

Product Overview

Part Number: 5466-253

Manufacturer: Woodward

Product Series: MicroNet TMR Turbine Control System

Type: TMR High Density Combo I/O Module

5466-253 is Woodward MicroNet TMR high-density combo multi-function I/O module, designed for triple modular redundant gas/steam turbine and large reciprocating engine control. This single integrated module combines speed monitoring, analog input, analog output and proportional actuator drive functions. It receives MPU magnetic pickup speed signals and process 0-5V analog measurements, outputs 4-20mA control signals and direct proportional actuator drive for turbine governor valves. It is installed in MicroNet TMR VME rack, operates under TMR triple redundant voting architecture for power generation critical control loops. Widely used as spare part for turbine control maintenance, overhaul and retrofit projects.

Engineer Notes

  1. 5466-253 is TMR version HD Combo I/O. The simplex counterpart is 5466-316, they are not interchangeable.
  2. Integrates speed, AI, AO and valve actuator drive in one board, reduces slot count inside TMR control rack.
  3. MPU speed inputs monitor turbine shaft speed for over-speed protection and governor control.
  4. Proportional actuator outputs directly drive turbine fuel/steam valve actuators, core governing control channel.
  5. Not hot-swappable; shut down rack power before removing or inserting this module.
  6. Conformal coated PCB provides protection for dust, humidity and mild corrosive gas in power plant control cabinet.
  7. Replacement upgrade part is 5466-1115 (standard accuracy) or 5466-1105 (high accuracy) Smart-Plus combo module.
  8. Used for critical turbine governing and protection; wiring must follow Woodward EMC specification with shielded twisted pair cable.

Pre-Shipment Test Protocol

  1. Visual inspection of PCB, front panel, edge connector, components and part number marking
  2. MPU speed input signal simulation test for all 4 speed channels
  3. 0-5V analog input channel accuracy test for 8 AI channels
  4. 4-20mA analog output calibration test for 4 AO channels
  5. Proportional actuator output drive functional test
  6. Front panel LED status verification
  7. Backplane edge connector continuity and insulation resistance test
  8. Hardware revision and label verification
  9. Anti-static & shockproof packaging inspection
