Description
Product Overview
The 3500/92 (136180-01) is the front processor card of the Bently Nevada 3500 TSI machinery protection rack communication gateway. It collects all vibration measurement data, alarm status, fault diagnostics and rack health signals from the 3500 backplane, then transmits the information to DCS, PLC, SCADA or System 1 condition monitoring host via Ethernet and serial interfaces. This full-height hot-swappable module enables remote rack configuration, real-time machinery health data acquisition for turbines, compressors and generators in power, oil & gas and petrochemical plants. It mates with a corresponding rear I/O terminal base for serial wiring.

Key Features
- Aggregates all channel vibration values, alert/danger alarms and module fault status across the entire 3500 rack over backplane bus.
- Dual communication channels: Ethernet Modbus TCP and serial Modbus RTU for flexible integration with third-party control systems.
- Supports Bently proprietary protocol for rack configuration, calibration and data viewing using 3500 Configuration Software and System 1.
- Configurable Modbus register mapping tool to customise data points, replacing legacy primary-value register functions from older 3500/90.
- Hot-swappable; module can be replaced without powering down the 3500 rack.
- Front panel LED indicators for module health and communication transmit/receive status for quick onsite diagnostics.
- Compliant with API 670 machinery protection requirements for critical rotating equipment.
Installation & Testing Notes
- Use ESD wrist strap when handling the module; static discharge can damage the communication processor.
- The 136180-01 front card must be installed together with a matching rear terminal base card.
- Insert into an empty full-height slot in the 3500 rack, confirm rack power is stable before insertion.
- After installation, configure network parameters and Modbus register layout with 3500 rack software.
- Verify OK LED status, test Ethernet and serial communication links, validate alarm and vibration data transmission to DCS.
- Inspect edge connector for bent pins, corrosion or physical damage before deploying as spare part.
FAQ
Q: What is 136180-01? A: It is the front printed wiring assembly (PWA) part number for the 3500/92 gateway module. The complete gateway assembly consists of this front card plus a rear I/O base.
Q: Is it hot swappable? A: Yes, the 3500/92 module supports hot swap within a powered 3500 rack.
Q: What is the difference between 3500/92 and older 3500/90? A: 3500/92 uses configurable Modbus register utility; the fixed primary value registers available on 3500/90 are removed.
