Description
Product Overview
The LG1093AA36 is a Honeywell (Ontic) ultraviolet flame scanner designed for GE-series gas turbine combustion monitoring. It uses a Geiger-Müller UV phototube to detect UV radiation emitted by hydrocarbon flames, delivering flame present / flame loss signal to matching EG1033 amplifier modules. It is widely installed on land-based power generation gas turbines, compressor drive turbines and offshore turbine packages for burner flame safeguard protection. This model is end-of-life and mainly supplied as spare replacement for existing turbine fleets.

Key Features
- Solar-blind UV detection, immune to black-body thermal radiation and visible light interference inside combustion chambers.
- Integrated factory-terminated Teflon shielded cable for high-temperature turbine enclosure environments.
- Explosion-proof stainless steel sensor housing suitable for hazardous zone 1 / zone 2 installations.
- Fast flame trip response for burner protection logic to prevent unburnt fuel accumulation.
- Long proven service history as OEM flame detector for GE gas turbine Mark VI / Mark VIe control systems.
- Requires paired EG1033 amplifier module to convert UV pulse signals into relay or transistor flame status outputs.
- EOL legacy unit, stocked as surplus/refurbished spare for turbine maintenance.
Installation & Testing Notes
- Install the sensor at proper viewing angle to the flame; avoid direct hot gas impingement onto the sensor window.
- Torque NPT mounting thread to manufacturer recommended value; use appropriate high-temperature thread sealant.
- Route the orange Teflon cable away from high-voltage power cables to reduce electromagnetic noise pickup.
- Terminate the two sensor conductors strictly to the matched EG1033 amplifier input terminals.
- After mechanical installation, perform flame simulation test with UV test lamp to verify scanner and amplifier response.
- Inspect sensor window for scratches, carbon fouling, cable insulation cracking and connector integrity before spare deployment.
- Confirm cable length variant matches site requirement; LG1093 series variants differ only by factory cable length.
FAQ
Q: What amplifier works with LG1093AA36? A: It must pair with Honeywell EG1033 series flame amplifier module to generate flame/no-flame relay or transistor output.
Q: What is the difference between LG1093AA24, AA26 and AA36? A: Only factory cable length: AA24=16ft, AA26=61ft, AA36=36ft, the sensor head electronics are identical.
Q: Can this sensor work without an amplifier? A: No. The UV tube produces raw pulse signals; the EG1033 amplifier is required for signal conditioning and alarm/trip logic.
