Engineer Notes
- This electronics module cannot operate alone. It must be fitted with the 1C31181G01 personality module to provide fiber optic port connections and signal translation. Mismatched personality hardware will prevent fiber communication.
- Front panel LEDs show module power, fiber link status, and fault alarms. Common faults include dirty fiber end faces, damaged optical cables, remote node power loss and backplane bus errors.
- The MAU connects the primary controller rack to up to four remote I/O nodes over multimode fiber. Verify fiber type and connector polish before cutover; single-mode fiber will not work with this hardware.
- Follow ESD control procedures during service. Remove rack power before extracting or inserting the module. After replacement, recheck fiber attenuation and validate remote node communications in the Ovation diagnostic tool.
