Description
Product Overview
The Fireye 85UVF1-1QD belongs to the Phoenix II series, a microprocessor-based integrated ultraviolet flame scanner with built-in flame relay, eliminating the requirement for separate external flame amplifier modules. It detects ultraviolet radiation (185–260nm) emitted by combustion flames and identifies flame flicker modulation to discriminate actual fire from background light interference such as sunlight, hot refractory or electric lighting. The unit features automatic learn mode to set flame ON/OFF thresholds and internal continuous self-diagnostics for sensor health and circuit integrity. It provides relay contacts, 4–20mA analog flame strength signal and RS485 Modbus RTU communication for BMS, PLC and DCS integration. Widely used for gas, oil and dual-fuel burner flame monitoring on boilers, furnaces, heaters and gas turbines in power plants, refineries and petrochemical facilities, stocked as critical safety spare for burner management systems.

Installation Instructions
- Perform lock-out/tag-out of fuel supply and burner control power before scanner replacement
- Wear ESD protective gear to avoid electrostatic circuit damage
- Mount scanner with clear line-of-sight to flame; avoid direct view of hot refractory background radiation
- Route scanner wiring separately from high voltage power cables; use shielded cable for Modbus and analog signal
- Wire 24VDC power, relay contacts, 4–20mA and RS485 communication following Fireye CU-119 wiring manual
- Power up and run automatic learn mode while burner is firing to capture target flame characteristics
- Test flame on, flame loss and fault alarm functions, verify 4–20mA signal and Modbus communication
- Commissioning must be completed by certified burner management / combustion safety technicians
FAQ
Q: What flame type can 85UVF1-1QD detect? A: It detects UV radiation from gas, light oil and dual-fuel flames; not suitable for heavy fuel oil or low-UV flames.
Q: Does this scanner require an external flame amplifier? A: No. This is an integrated scanner with built-in flame relay, no separate amplifier needed.
Q: What is the purpose of learn mode? A: Learn mode automatically captures flame flicker signature and sets detection thresholds to reduce false trips.
Q: Can it connect to DCS / BMS? A: Yes via relay dry contacts, 4–20mA analog signal or RS485 Modbus RTU.
Q: What warranty is available? A: Standard 12-month warranty applies for fully tested scanners operated under rated normal operating service conditions.
