Description
Product Overview
The Emerson 5X00062G01 is an 8-channel HART-capable analog output module built for the Ovation distributed control system. It converts digital setpoints from the Ovation controller into 4–20mA analog control signals for modulating smart valve positioners, dampers and variable speed drives. HART superimposed digital communication allows bi-directional access to field device diagnostics, configuration and calibration data. OEM production has ended; available stock consists of surplus or refurbished tested replacement units for power generation, boiler control and process plant DCS racks.

Engineer Notes
- This is a complete integrated module, not a personality card. It installs directly into Ovation I/O rack slots without a separate base board.
- Front panel LEDs indicate module health and individual channel fault states. The module flags open loops, shorted outputs and out-of-range current conditions.
- HART communication works on each 4–20mA loop. Use a HART communicator or AMS device manager to read device status and adjust smart transmitter/valve parameters.
- Use shielded twisted pair wiring for all analog output loops. Separate signal cables from high-current power wiring to reduce noise that impacts both analog control and HART digital signals.
- Channels share a common auxiliary 24VDC field supply ground; there is no channel-to-channel isolation. Do not mix field supplies with differing ground references across channels.
- Follow ESD handling procedures. De-energize rack power before module removal or insertion. Perform full channel calibration and HART communication validation after replacement.
Pre-Shipment Test Protocol
- Visual inspection: Check PCB, edge connector, front panel LEDs and housing for bent pins, corrosion or component damage.
- Continuity and isolation test: Verify 1000VDC isolation between field loop circuits and backplane logic.
- Functional bench test: Connect precision resistive loads to each channel, command 4mA, 12mA and 20mA setpoints, confirm measured current matches reference values.
- HART communication test: Connect HART-capable field device simulator to each channel, confirm read/write access to device tags and diagnostic registers.
- Fault simulation: Open and short each output channel, confirm module logs diagnostic alarms.
- Power cycling: Cycle backplane power 10 times, confirm analog outputs and HART links recover correctly.
- Save test logs and photos for QA records.
Buyer FAQ
Q: Can I swap 5X00062G01 with non-HART Ovation AO modules directly? A: Physical form factor fits the same rack slot. Verify controller firmware and point database configuration. Non-HART AO point definitions do not support HART diagnostic data.
Q: Does this module provide loop power for 4-20mA field devices? A: It requires an external 24VDC auxiliary field power supply for the 4–20mA control loops. The module sinks/sources the control current.
Q: Is this new original Emerson factory stock? A: OEM production has stopped. Available units are surplus or fully refurbished tested stock. We offer a 12-month warranty on tested units.
Q: Are terminal blocks included? A: Terminal blocks are not included unless explicitly noted on your quote. Confirm terminal assembly availability at order time.
