The Emerson 5X00594G01 is a 16-channel relay output module built for the Ovation distributed control system. It converts digital control logic signals from the Ovation controller into dry contact relay closures to actuate field devices, including alarm horns, solenoid valves, breaker trip coils and local panel indicators. Each relay channel provides isolated contact switching for on/off control in power generation, boiler and balance-of-plant safety and alarm circuits. OEM production has ended; available stock consists of surplus or refurbished tested replacement units for Ovation I/O racks.

Engineer Notes
- This is a fully integrated I/O module; no separate personality card required. Hot-swap is permitted only when site lockout/tagout procedures are followed.
- Front panel LEDs indicate module health and per-channel relay state. The module flags relay coil faults and communication failures to the controller.
- Dry relay contacts physically separate the DCS low-voltage logic from high-voltage field circuits. Do not exceed rated contact current or voltage to prevent contact degradation or welding.
- Use separate shielded wiring for relay output circuits. Route field contact cables away from low-level analog signal cables to avoid induced noise into temperature or flow measurement loops.
- Inductive field loads, such as solenoids and coils, require suppression components across the load terminals to reduce back EMF and extend relay service life.
- Apply ESD controls while handling. De-energize rack power before module removal or insertion if hot swap is not approved. After replacement, test each channel for pull-in and drop-out operation and verify contact continuity.
