The Emerson 1C31181G01 is an 8-channel analog output module for the Ovation distributed control system. It converts digital setpoint values from the Ovation controller into standard 4–20mA analog signals to position modulating valves, dampers, actuators and variable-speed drive setpoints. OEM production has ended; available stock consists of surplus or refurbished tested replacement units for power generation, boiler control, pulp and paper, and water treatment DCS racks.

Engineer Notes
- Each channel provides current drive for 4–20mA loops. Verify loop resistance before commissioning; excessive cable resistance can reduce signal headroom.
- Front panel LEDs indicate module health and channel fault status. Common field issues include open loop wiring, shorted output channels and overloaded loops.
- Use shielded twisted pair cable for all analog output field wiring. Separate these wires from high-current power cables to limit induced noise and signal drift.
- This card uses rotary keying on the matching terminal block. Confirm key settings match before insertion to prevent miswiring.
- Follow ESD protocols during handling. Remove rack power before removing or installing the module. After replacement, perform loop calibration and update point database scaling.
