Description
Product Overview
The T8451C is a 40-channel triple modular redundant (TMR) digital output module for the ICS Triplex Trusted safety instrumented system (SIS). It uses 2-out-of-3 (2oo3) hardware voting to drive 24VDC field actuators including solenoid valves, relay coils and alarm indicators. This high integrity module is widely used in ESD emergency shutdown, fire & gas and critical safety interlock applications across oil & gas, chemical and power plants. The C variant represents the latest coating / hardware revision of the base T8451 design.

Key Features
- Full TMR triplicated internal circuitry with hardware voting; single slice fault will not cause false trip or loss of safety output.
- Per-channel automatic diagnostics: detects open circuit, short circuit and field load faults on each output point.
- Built-in electronic overcurrent and short-circuit protection per channel, eliminating requirement for external fuses.
- 2500V impulse galvanic isolation between logic side and field outputs for noise immunity in high EMI cabinet environments.
- Hot-swappable design; online replacement in SmartSlot or companion slot configuration without SIS shutdown.
- Front panel individual channel LED status indicators plus module health LEDs for active / standby / fault status.
- Onboard sequence of events logging for post-incident root cause analysis.
Installation & Testing Notes
- Apply ESD protection when handling; static discharge can damage TMR logic circuitry.
- Install only in matching Trusted TMR rack; verify backplane health and rack power before insertion.
- After installation, confirm module “OK” LED, download safety application logic and run comprehensive point checkout.
- Perform loop testing on each output channel to validate switching, short/open fault diagnostics and load drive capability.
- Check rear terminal assembly for pin integrity, corrosion or loose wiring before commissioning or spare deployment.
- Follow SIS management procedures to place module into service and confirm voting health after replacement.
